Job Description

The Laboratory Operations Assistant will be responsible for providing part-time support with maintaining a clean and organized laboratory for the Product Development research group. The position will focus on sorting and washing glassware, tracking inventory levels, and organizing within the laboratory.

• Regular attendance and punctuality attending mandatory trainings as required.
• Perform proper washing, sanitization, storage, and organization of laboratory glassware and equipment.
• Operate equipment for glassware washing and sanitization.
• Perform routine maintenance with laboratory instruments, such as changing chart records on stability chambers and emptying/re-filling water tanks for dehumidifiers and water baths.
• Organize and maintain an inventory of chemicals and reagents.
• Assist with emptying chemical and laboratory waste containers on a regular schedule.
• Organize pickup and removal with disposal service.
• Understand the process for handling chemical and hazardous wastes and receive on-the-job training for handling specific waste types in the laboratory.
• Conduct all activities in a safe and efficient manner.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
• May work a flexible schedule of 20-30 hours per week.

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Currently enrolled as a student at an accredited college or university program preferred.
• One-year experience in laboratory setting preferred.
• Basic computer knowledge.
• Comfortable operating in fast-paced environments.
• Able to independently perform any variety of glassware washing, storage and organization as needed.

Working Conditions

• Position may require periodic evening, as necessary to fulfill obligations.
• This position will regularly include walking, standing for extended periods of time as well as lifting / moving objects up to 30 pounds.
• This position requires working around machinery
• Possible exposure to chemicals, reagents, and hazardous wastes.
